It's election season for two South Dakota tribes

Members of two South Dakota tribes will be going to the polls this fall.

The Oglala Sioux Tribe has attracted 105 candidates for the president and tribal council. John Yellow Bird Steele is running for re-election and will face activist Russell Means and other challengers in an October 5 primary.

The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe held an August 10 primary for eight council seats. The general election will take place November 2, the same day as the federal and state elections.
