A painting of a Taos Pueblo man that was stolen in January was mysteriously returned on Tuesday to an art gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

"Jerry with Apache Bow and Arrows" was a portrait of Jerry Mirabal of Taos. Painted by Joseph Henry Sharp, it was worth an estimated $165,000.

The painting was one of several art items stolen in a rash of art thefts in Santa Fe. Both Indian and non-Indian items have been taken from galleries in recent months.

The man who returned the painting said he found it. Police took him in for questioning.
