The first Lewis and Clark bicentennial event to be hosted by tribes began in Chamberlain, South Dakota, on Thursday.
"Oceti Sakowin Experience: Remembering and Educating" promotes cultural awareness. The event features dances, cultural exhibits and a Lakota, Nakota and Dakota art auction.
The Oceti Sakowin Experience is part of the Corps II: 200 Years to the Future, a traveling exhibit that commemorates the bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark expedition.
