Sen. Tom Daschle (D-South Dakota) has served his state for 26 years but his Republican opponent, John Thune, says he is not been loyal to the state's conservative residents.

Thune claims Daschle answers to a "liberal Democratic caucus that is made up of Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton." He blasted Daschle for blocking a judicial nominee that tribes opposed, saying South Dakotans wanted former Interior solicitor Bill Myers on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Thune also criticizes Daschle for seeking large increases to the Indian Health Service budget that have been rejected by Republicans in the Senate. Thune says he will seek increases that are more realistic and have a chance of passing.
