President Bush will address the UNITY 2004 convention of minority journalists this morning.
Live coverage on C-SPAN is scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m. Bush will take questions from a panel of journalists following his remarks.
Strict security measures are in place for the speech. Attendees will not be allowed to bring in recording devices to the room.
Yesterday, Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts spoke to the convention. He said his administration would respect tribal sovereignty and include Native Americans in top positions. Secretary of State Colin Powell also spoke and defended the Bush administration's foreign policy.
Discussions yesterday included the use of mascots, free press in Indian Country and coverage of Indian issues. None of the panels were well attended but according to Unity.Org, the mascot discussion was heated.
