Federal grant to address at-risk youth on reservation

The Department of Labor awarded a $3.1 million grant to help at-risk youth on the Sisseton Wahpeton Reservation in South Dakota.

The money will be used to make the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Youth Corps into a permanent program. The corps will help 400 tribal youth earn their General Education Development degrees and learn construction skills

Labor Secretary Elaine Chao presented the award with tribal chairman James Crawford yesterday.
