The Timbisha Shoshone Tribe of California says it has every right to open a casino hundreds of miles away from its current reservation.
The tribe says land under consideration in Hesperia is within its aboriginal territory. The tribe says criticism by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians is unfounded.
The San Manuel Band gave Congressional testimony earlier this month decrying the "reservation shopping" practice. The San Manuels say Hesperia is part of its homeland.
The Timbisha Shoshones have a reservation in Death Valley.
