The Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewas has received a federal grant that will be used to open a modular home plant on the reservation.
The tribe will use $400,000 from the Department of Agriculture with $300,000 in matching funds to address housing and employment needs. Tribal members will be able to buy low-cost homes and work at the plant.
The tribe looked to the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska and the Red Lake Nation of Minnesota to assistance in starting the modular home plant.
