The Native American Basketball Invitational was held in Phoenix, Arizona, last week, drawing 45 teams from across Indian Country.
Coaches say basketball teams are a source of pride on reservations. The community usually turns out in large numbers to support the players, they say.
The NABI, in its second year, draws on the tradition of Indian basketball. Organizers say more and more people are learning about the tournament and want to get involved.
