The Confederated Colville Tribes of Washington filed a suit against a Canadian company over pollution in the Columbia River.
The tribe says Teck Cominco Metals has dumped millions of tons of heavy metals into the river for nearly 90 years. The pollution is hurting tribal members who use the river to fish and for cultural and spiritual reasons.
The lawsuit asks Teck Cominco to comply with an Environmental Protection Agency order to pay for pollution studies.
