The Fond du Land Band of Ojibwe in Minnesota swore in a new chairman on Tuesday.
Peter Defoe is the tribe's first new chairman in 16 years. He has previously served 16 years as secretary-treasurer.
Defoe said he would work to improve housing on the reservation, create an assisted-care living facility for seniors and expand the tribe's casino and hotel.
