Two Comanche Nation officials pleaded not guilty to charges of obstructing justice in a child abuse case, The Daily Oklahoman reports.
Tribal administrator Michael Francis Burgess and Elizabeth Marie Woodard, the tribe's child welfare director, were charged in a Bureau of Indian Affairs court. The tribe posted $2,000 bond for each.
The case centers around two children who were removed from their home for suspected child abuse. Burgess and Woodard allegedly disobeyed a tribal court order and placed the children back in the home.
