An 18-month-old Indian boy whom police say was abducted by his father is staying on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation while custody issues are worked out.
Marshall Fox, 25, took Evan and fled from their home on the Stockbridge-Munsee Reservation in Wisconsin. They wound up at Standing Rock, where Fox's mother lives.
Fox is charged in Wisconsin county court with custodial interference, possession of marijuana, disorderly conduct and battery. He allegedly beat his wife, a Stockbridge-Munsee tribal member, before fleeing with Evan.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Tribe has a custody judgment that it may seek to enforce at Standing Rock.
