Mashantucket Tribe fires workers who complained

Two workers who complained about sexual assaults at the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation's safehouse have been fired, The Westerly Sun reports.

The tribe fired Gloria Hazard and Mary-Yvette D. Fannings, who raised allegations of abuse at the Mashantucket Pequot Child Advocacy Center. A termination letter to Hazard stated she acted "in a way that would embarrass or discredit the tribe," the paper said.

The tribe investigated the allegations but could not find enough evidence to bring charges. The FBI also looked into the situation.
