The Oneida Nation of Wisconsin will have two new license plates for tribal members.
The first plate (top of picture) uses purple to symbolize rare Quahog shells used to make wampum belts. A half-circle resembles the moon, the Oneida's grandmother, while turtle, and the wolf and bear paws represent the three Oneida clans.
The second plate (bottom of picture) features an eagle and a border based on the wampum belt pattern. The eagle symbolizes protection while the pattern reflects the six nations of the Iroquois Confederacy.
