The California Supreme Court agreed on Wednesday to decide whether tribe must comply with the state's campaign finance law.
The state's Fair Political Practices Commission sued two tribes, saying the tribes failed to report their political donations. But the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and the Santa Rosa Rancheria say they are immune from lawsuits.
One appeals court ruled against the Agua Caliente Tribe while another ruled for the Santa Rosa Tribe. The Agua Caliente Tribe appealed to the Supreme Court.
