The Lenexa, Kansas, city council voted to name a new park after Shawnee chief Black Hoof.
Black Hoof was one of the signers of 1854 treaty between the Shawnee Nation and the U.S. government. He was married to Na Nex Se, a Shawnee woman for whom Lenexa was named.
A groundbreaking on the park was held on Friday.
