The National Congress of American Indians is holding its mid-year session at the Mohegan Tribe's casino in Connecticut.
The theme of the four-day event, which starts Sunday, is "Renewing Connections, Strengthening Self-Determination." Special focus is being paid to NCAI's relationship with the Assembly of First Nations, which represents more than 500 First Nations in Canada.
Assistant secretary Dave Anderson is scheduled to speak on Monday. NCAI will also hear from Jennifer Farley of the White House and U.S. Attorney Tom Heffelfinger.
The meeting ends on Wednesday.
