A man claiming to be the chief of an unrecognized tribe was sentenced to six months of house arrest and five years of probation on Thursday.
Ronald A. Roberts says he is chief of the Western Mohegan Tribe of New York. In his bid to gain federal recognition, he falsified documents to prove his Indian ancestry.
Roberts still claims he is Indian.
