South Dakota to resume suit against trust land

South Dakota Gov. Mike Rounds (R) says he will continue the state's fight against the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe's land-into-trust request.

The case has been in the courts since 1990. The state sued the Bureau of Indian Affairs for agreeing to acquire 91 acres that used to be part of the tribe's reservation.

The tribe tried to join the lawsuit but was rejected by a federal appeals court. Chairman Michael Jandreau says the state's continued fight "closely borders on blatant and overt racism."
