Federal Recognition
Eastern Pequots want role in recognition lawsuit

The Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation wants to be involved in another tribe's recognition case in hopes of countering claims by Connecticut attorney general Richard Blumenthal.

Blumenthal has referred to the Eastern Pequots in his appeal of the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation's recognition. The Eastern Pequots say being designated an "interested party" in the case is the only way to respond to his allegations.

The Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation was granted final recognition in June 2002. Blumenthal has filed an appeal to the decision.
