The Northern Arapaho Tribe of Wyoming will continue to provide child protection services on the reservation without accepting state funding.
The tribe and the state were negotiating a new contract for the services. But tribal leaders objected to a provision requiring state court jurisdiction over child welfare disputes.
The tribe has instead decided to let its contract with the state expire on June 30. The tribe will use gaming revenues and other funds to make up for the shortfall.
