The Confederated Grand Ronde Tribes operate one of the top 10 charitable foundations in Oregon.
The Spirit Mountain Community Fund is seeded with gaming revenues. The tribe gave out $4.6 million last year in grants for a total of nearly $25 million since 1997.
The importance of the fund was demonstrated when tribal leaders proposed to change the funding cycle. The change is on hold.
