The Sycuan Band of Kumeyaay Nation of California is seeking approval to build a $30 million hotel and commercial development in San Diego.
The plan calls for a 150-room hotel, restaurants, conference facilities and retail stores on publicly-owned land on the bay.
The proposal goes before the city council tomorrow. If approved, it is said to be the first agreement between a tribal government and a municipality.
The agreement excludes gaming except under two circumstances: if gaming is approved within the city or if city voters approve gaming for the site.
