A database at washingtonpost.com lists cash bonuses and other awards for federal government employees, including those at the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Office of Special Trustee and the National Indian Gaming Commission.
You can search by name, agency and location. The database will return the employee's Pay Plan, Grade/Step, Occupation and Supervisory Status.
For example, Jean Maybee, an executive assistant at the BIA's central office in Washington, D.C., received a $5,000 bonus in June 2002, according to the database. George Gover, the former director of the BIA's Economic Development office, received $5,000 in 2001. Edith Blackwell, an Interior Department attorney who handles Indian affairs, received $7,000 in July 2002 and 24 hours off in March 2002.
The database is based on a Freedom of Information Act request submitted by The Washington Post. It is not exhaustive -- for example, bonuses/awards for political appointees and other top managers believed to have received them do not appear to be listed. Some federal agencies did not supply data and other information was restricted for various reasons, The Post said.
