Montana's Human Rights Bureau is accusing a county of discriminating against a tribal member who was banned from working at the county courthouse due to his '"negative history with law enforcement."
Bryan Has The Pipe, a member of the Assiniboine Tribe, was hired to clean the courthouse by a third-party contractor. But after county officials discovered that he
has a variety of traffic and misdemeanor criminal offenses, they barred him from the building.
Has The Pipe took his claim to the Human Rights Bureau, part of the state's Department of Labor and Industry. In a report, an investigator concluded that the county discriminated against Has The Pipe. The issue will go before an examiner.
