Sovereignty Symposium kicks off in Oklahoma City

The 17th annual Sovereignty Symposium takes place today and tomorrow in Oklahoma City.
Gov. Brad Henry (D) is set to give the keynote address at the opening ceremony today. Panels on sovereignty self-governance, consultation, tribal-state relations, the oil and gas industry, crime, cultural preservation and environmental regulation are also on the agenda for today.
Tomorrow's schedule includes panels on self-governance at the Indian Health Service, tribal justice, business development, gaming and the Indian Land Consolidation Act.
