Peru's interior minister has been forced to resign for his response to Indian-led protests that led to the killing of a town mayor.
Lawmakers voted 62-39 to rebuke Fernando Rospigliosi and said he acted too slow to respond to the crisis. Last week, Aymara tribal members beat to death the mayor for alleged corruption.
Peruvian president Alejandro Toleo is the country's first elected Indian president. He has suffered a series of scandals and his approval rating is a paltry 8 percent.
