Police won't pursue charges for death of two boys

Authorities in Montana are unable to confirm whether two 11-year-old boys who died of alcohol poisoning on the Flathead Reservation were supplied liquor by an adult.

The sheriff's department has closed the investigation into the deaths of Justin Benoist and Frankie Nicolai III. Authorities were focusing on an adult who may have given the boys vodka but a detective also said there were allegations the boys obtained it on their own.

The boys were members of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. The tribal government is reviewing its policies in response to complaints that local law enforcement was not made aware the boys were reported missing.
