National
Important Indianz.Com Service Note for next week
Wednesday, March 31, 2004
Latest Update on Wednesday, March 31.
Still transferring!
But in response to The Native American Times, the next time we do some major work, we'll put it to a vote of all of Indian Country. Then we'll hold consultation meetings in every region. Then we'll create a task force of important tribal leaders and Internet users.
Then after much deliberation, we'll just do whatever we want!
Hey, does everyone remember that tomorrow is April Fool's? Native America Calling has something interesting lined up, so check it out!
Latest Update on Tuesday, March 30.
We are still in the process of transferring the rest of the site. Due to the large number of entries, this is taking longer than expected. As a result, there will be no new postings of news stories today. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Latest Update on Monday, March 29.
The message board has been moved successfully! Please redirect your browser to
http://64.62.196.98/board. Don't worry about the weird numbers, they will be going away as soon as we finish the entire transfer of the server.
We are still working on the rest of the files. As stated earlier, it will take at least through Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday, for the move to occur. Posting of new stories will be light as a result.
Thanks for your patience!
Indianz.Com is upgrading to a new server! We are getting just way too many visits and our hosting provider says they are tired of Chinese hackers, Indian conservatives and Cherokee separatists. OK, not really.
But seriously, we are moving to a dedicated server that is supposed to be much faster. So as we transfer the system over the next few days, you, our loyal reader, may encounter some downtime.
Our first task will be to move the message board over. This means the current message board may be "closed" for a period of time. This will probably occur on Monday but may occur on Tuesday. Once we get all the messages transferred, it should be up and running fine.
We will concentrate on the other parts of the site after that. We anticipate some downtime on Monday and Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday. (April Fools?) The last time we changed servers, it took two days, but this was back in early 2000 when the site wasn't as large. Now there are thousands of files.
We know many people may go through withdrawal. There is no known cure. But check The Native American Times because we are sure they will post stories every hour wondering where we are to offer moral support. We have not told our receptionist about this, so that she may act truly surprised and feel totally out of the hoop when The Times rings her.
Wish us luck! And thanks for reading! Last month alone, we had nearly 300,000 unique sessions, nearly 1.3 million page views and nearly 8 million hits. Top that Indian Country Tomorrow!
