A memorial service was held on Thursday in honor of Benjamin Pease Jr., a Crow elder and historian. Pease died on Monday at the age of 81.
Pease was remembered as ambassador for tribal culture, education and dignity for all people. He was one of the first Crow tribal members to obtain a master's degree and later went on to become a teacher and sports coach.
Family and friends said Pease was proud of Crow culture and shared it whenever possible.
