Okla. doctor to study diabetes among Indian youth


The National Institutes of Health has awarded a $1.4 million grant to an Oklahoma City doctor to study type 2 diabetes among youth, particularly Indian youth.

Dr. Kenneth Copeland of the Oklahoma University Children's Physicians will monitor Indian youth ages 10-17 who have the disease. The study will look at development treatment standards.

Health centers of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe, the Chickasaw Nation and the Choctaw Nation will participate.
