A woman from an Alaska Native village filed suit against a Jesuit priest whom she accuses of sexually molesting her at a young age.
The woman, identified only as a "Jane Doe" who was raised in a village on the lower Yukon River, claims Rev. James E. Poole molest her from 1978 to 1984. Poole acknowledges knowing the woman but told The Anchorage Daily News that her charges were "highly inflammatory and highly exaggerated."
Poole is one of three priests in the Fairbanks diocese who have been accused of sexual abuse. He worked in several Yup'ik villages along the lower Yukon.
