University president revives Indian advisory panel

Central Michigan University president Michael Rao says a revived Indian advisory committee will help the school get its Native American Program back on the right track.

The program is currently defunct due to the recent resignation of its director. A 43 percent budget cut last year also eliminated other positions.

Rao's committee will include seven members of the faculty, students, administrators and the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe. In addition to discussing Native programs, the panel will look at the school's "Chippewa" nickname.
