The Nez Perce Tribe has filed a lawsuit over a timber sale and restoration project at the Clearwater National Forest in Idaho.

The tribe believes the project will harm bull trout and wild steelhead, which are on the endangered species list. The suit calls for federal officials to re-analyze their proposal.

As part of the project, forest officials plan to harvest 42 million board feet of timber, treat 12,500 acres with prescribed fire, plant 600 acres and get rid of 66 miles of old logging roads.
