BIA waiting to certify results of Rocky Boy's election

The Bureau of Indian Affairs is in the process of certifying the results of last week's election on the Rocky Boy's Reservation in Montana.

Tribal members were asked to consider five changes to the tribe's constitution. According to unofficial results released by the BIA, all five were approved. One amendment replaces the election of judges with an appointment system. Another change allows those who move away from the reservation for more than 10 years to retain membership.

Voter turnout was low. Fewer than half of the people who registered for the election participated.
