Business owners on the Navajo Nation aren't entirely happy with business regulations approved this week.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs will no longer be require to approve business site leases under rules adopted by the Economic Development Committee. But the agency will still have to conduct site appraisals and create environmental regulations because the tribe won't take on the duties at this time. Entrepreneurs say the process makes it harder to open businesses.
Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr. expressed dissatisfaction with the rules, a spokesperson said.
