Two leaders in the North Carolina Senate said there are enough votes to approve a new Class III gaming compact for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
The tribe wants to add live card dealers to the Harrah's Cherokee Casino. A bill to authorize expanded gaming could come up later this year or next year. “There’s bipartisan support in the Senate,” Phil Berger (R-Guilford, Rockingham), the President Pro Tempore in the Senate, told The Cherokee One Feather. “The votes are there.” Gov.
