Chickasaw Nation wins support for state-owned casino in Kansas

The Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma is moving closer to building a state-owned casino in Kansas.

Global Gaming Solutions, a tribal subsidiary, won an endorsement from commissioners in Sumner County to build a facility there. It was the one proposal to win support from the county.

"The endorsement is certainly very helpful," John Elliott, the chief executive officer of Global Gaming, told The Oklahoman. The tribe still needs to negotiate a contract with the state.

The Chickasaw casino would be located not far from a site where the Wyandotte Nation of Oklahoma owns land. The Obama administration is moving forward with the Wyandotte land-into-trust application.

In related Chickasaw news, the tribe has poured $7 million into a race track it purchased in Oklahoma City.
