A group of non-Indian developers claims to be talking to tribes about a plan for an off-reservation casino.

The Sleeping Giant Group wants to open a casino in the northwestern part of the state. The group needs a tribe and is also looking for law firms to help prepare an off-reservation gaming application.

“We have a sense that there is some real interest in what this market represents and what we have done so far on the project,” Steve Hofman told The Steamboat Pilot & Today.

The Ute Mountain Ute Tribe and the Southern Ute Tribe are based in Colorado and operate casinos on their reservations. The Ute Tribe in Utah is already pusing a casino in Colorado.
