COVID-19 in Indian Country
“The American Rescue Plan will give the Navajo Nation and all Tribal Nations a fighting chance at ending the spread of the coronavirus among our people sooner rather than later," said Navajo Nation Council Speaker Seth Damon.
The American Rescue Plan Act passed by Congress includes $20 billion for federally-recognized tribes to help mitigate the impacts of the coronavirus.

“This is not a full reopening as some states are doing. Instead, this is a carefully-crafted soft reopening," said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.

“As of today, we have nearly 30,000 reported infections of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic nearly one year ago, and we have lost 1,203 of our Navajo people," said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.
The Navajo Nation Department of Health identified 8 communities with uncontrolled spread of COVID-19 from February 19, 2021 to March 4, 2021.
