Tyler Fish, a citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation who works for the Trump administration, addressed the winter session of the National Congress of American Indians in Washington, D.C., on February 11, 2020.
"I think it's kind of funny," Fish told a group of tribal leaders at the Capital Hilton, a hotel a few blocks from the White House. "When I first arrived at this post I consulted with my own tribal leaders and mentors about how to succeed in this position and one of them me [to] slow play my hand, don't say anything too stupid and don't stick your neck out right off the bat," Fish recalled. "He was the only one that had that opinion," Fish said.Join the Conversation
