R.I. police sued over raid on Narragansett Tribe

Three Native Americans have filed a federal lawsuit over the treatment they received when the Rhode Island state troopers raided the Narragansett Reservation on July 14.

Paulla Dove Jennings, a tribal council member; her son Adam Jennings; and Keith Huertas, manager of the tribe's smoke shop, say their constitutional rights were violated. They accuse the police officers, whose names are not being released, of assault and battery and false imprisonment.

Jennings and her son are tribal members. Huertas is a member of another tribe that is not reported by The Providence Journal.
