Police keeping tape of Narragansett raid secret

The Rhode Island state police won't release copies of a videotape of the July 14 raid of the Narragansett Tribe's smoke shop.

The police consider the tape evidence in the criminal case against several tribal members arrested during the raid. A copy has been given to Gov. Donald Carcieri (R) and another to the independent commission reviewing the raid.

TV cameras captured parts of the raid. The police tape is said to last 30 minutes.
