July 25, 2003Editorial: They were selling cigarettes, for God's sake"If I didn't see it I wouldn't believe it." Those are the words of one South Kingstown resident who went Monday to the newly-opened Smoke Shop on Route 2 in Charlestown. Owned and operated by the Narragansett Indians, it had opened Saturday drawing large numbers of people to the offer of tax-free cigarettes. She and others were waiting for a truck shipment to arrive - the shop had sold out its stock - when suddenly a horde of state and local police descended on the property.
