Oneida land claim talks said progressing
WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 2003 The federal mediator for the Oneida land claim is asking for an extension to continue talks between the parties. John Tabner believes he can finalize a settlement over 250,000 acres of land transferred to the state. The claim is more than 30 years old. The plaintiffs are the Oneida of New York, the Oneida of Wisconsin and the Oneida of Canada. The defendants are the state of New York and two counties. Get the Story:
