Tribes take part in Lewis and Clark events
The bicentennial commemoration of the Lewis and Clark expedition kicked off this week with tribes taking a front seat at the table.
More than 40 tribes met the explorers as they made their way West with the help of a young Indian woman named Sacagawea. For the next three years, the tribes will open their doors and share their views of the historic event.

Courts take on Indian law disputes
The news on the legal front was bad this week as tribes and others lost challenges on gaming, sovereignty and trust.
The biggest decision was one from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which refused to stop a labor union action against a California tribe. A federal judge in Washington, D.C., also said no to the Hopi Tribe of Arizona's breach of trust claim.
