On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, the Department of the Treasury published the final rules on Prevailing Wage and Apprenticeship (PWA) requirements related to increased credit or deduction amounts for certain clean energy incentives, enacted as a part of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022.

Treasury conducted consultation on the proposed NPRM on September 25, 2023. Based on this consultation, and pursuant to Executive Orders 13175 and 14112, Treasury has adopted two Tribal special rules to address circumstances where a Tribal government is an employer and where Tribal lands are subject to different prevailing wage rates. The most sustainable Tribal responses to domestic violence, sexual violence, sex trafficking, and related disparities are those rooted in Indigenous cultures and values. The challenge for those receiving federal funds is balancing the development of their responses with administering varying requirements of federal funds. This Fireside session will share how Tribes and Tribal organizations can develop their sustainable responses, including responding to challenges to best meet the needs of survivors and Tribal communities by pooling together different federal funds and maximizing impact.

The Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF) is responsible for selecting the members of the GASB and its Advisory Council, the Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council (GASAC). The Board of Trustees is seeking a highly qualified individual with substantial experience as a local government preparer of financial statements to fill the upcoming vacancy.

The appointment is a part-time role that requires approximately one-third the time commitment of a full-time position. The successful candidate will be appointed to an initial five-year term and may be eligible for reappointment to an additional term of up to five years. The Controller oversees the accounting and financial reporting functions of the organization and should have a strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting, as well as current GASB statements. The Controller is responsible for the integrity and completeness of the financial statements, ensuring that the individual financial transactions are timely and accurately entered.

The Controller is part of the Financial Services Division of the primary government.

This position serves under the direction of the Executive Financial Director of the Financial Services Division. It requires the ability to interface with various members of the Division, tribal leadership, the accounting team, and all operational divisions of the primary government. Individuals must possess the ability to work and maintain the highest degree of confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of the work.
