Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs Bryan Newland addresses the National Congress of American Indians on February 13, 2024.
Newland, a citizen of the Bay Mills Indian Community, is a political appointee at the Department of the Interior, the federal agency with the most trust and treaty responsibilities in Indian Country.
In that role, he oversees the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Bureau of Indian Education and the Bureau of Trust Funds Administration.
Newland spoke at NCAI’s executive council winter session in Washington, D.C.
