Mark Macarro delivers his first speech as the newly-elected president of the National Congress of American Indians.

Macarro is the long-time chairman of the Pechanga Band of Indians, based in California. He won election to NCAI’s highest executive office during the organization’s 80th annual convention, emerging first out of a field of three candidates.

The vote occurred on November 16, 2023. Macarro provided remarks after being sworn into office on November 17, 2023.

NCAI hosted the convention in New Orleans, Louisiana, from November 12-17, 2023.
